I’ve been meaning to post these for a while now, but circumstances of late have kept me busy and unable to keep pace. I promise that I have a comic in the works, but in the mean time, here’s something boring and irrelevant to hold you over. =P

Since I did my Chun-Li sculpture, I’d been messing around with polymer clay more and decided to make these earrings. I’ve never made jewelry before, ever, unless you count wreaths of grass and weeds I used to make when I was a little girl. This is really my first attempt at making them, and it’s probably not an original idea by any means. I just thought it would be nice, easy little project to try this whole thing out on. Again, I haven’t consulted any jewelry-making guides or tutorials, so I couldn’t tell you the best way to do this, or if what I’m doing is standard or correct. I just sort of went to the art supply store and did what I thought would make sense. *Shrugs.* The results are satisfactory.

So yeah, Airheads are delicious. The earrings are good for wearing with casual clothes, and I’ve worn them to work on several occassions; although, I have to get in the habit of not sleeping in them, since as they’re hand-made, I worry that I don’t have the skills to have made them sturdy enough. Oh well. It’s fun, though I need to stop doing all this girly stuff on my spare time and get back to drawing comics! >.<

Some of you may have seen this if you go to my personal blog, but I thought I’d post it here finally, after months of procrastinating. I had some fabric left over from the Super Mario Dress I made and posted about a long while ago. I didn’t have enough left for much of anything, so I decided to use it to make a purse. I work with handbags 5 days out of the freaking week, I might as well learn how to make them, right?

Anyway, this is the first purse I’ve ever made, and I think it came out pretty well. It has lining, a zippered pocket, and I even sculpted an Invincibility Star keychain out of Crayola Model Magic. Model Magic is really great stuff, so long as you’re working kind of big, since it’s so light and fairly versatile. I painted the star with regular acrylic paint, though, in the future, I am probably going to spray it with some kind of clear coating so the paint doesn’t chip or run as easily. (The paint smudged a little bit when it rained here.) Here are a couple of pictures.

I gave the purse the photographic and post-processing treatment I give all the purses at my job, hehe.

And this is what it looks like when it is carried by a me.

All in all, a great project. Oh, and by the way, if you’re looking for Super Mario fabric, please do not e-mail asking me where I got it. I just got really lucky on eBay, that’s all. And even then, I wasn’t able to buy near the equivalent it would take to make your son Super Mario curtains or blankets or whatever. So yeah, good luck with that because I have no idea where you would buy them otherwise.

Okay, I’m at work writing and posting this, so I’m going to end it here. I have to go back to these other really ugly purses that people are actually buying. Hot pink zebra stripes? Really?!

Yes, really. I work in Peggy Bundy’s idea of heaven. *sigh* -_-;;

Holy shit, we did a comic. Despite our busy schedules, I figured it was right time to get the comic back up and going again. I have no idea what the schedule is going to be like, so don’t get your hopes up or anything. =P (That’s the spirit!) But yeah, always wear your helmet, kids.

Anyhoo, so what’s been up with us? Well, I’m still workin’ for The Man, playing GTA 4, and wanting a PS3 quite badly, if only for Singstar. Arlo, in the mean time, is going to school, working full time, and is busy planning his wedding dated on 08-08-2008. Arlo, if you forget your anniversary, you deserve to get slapped.

I’ve been doing little things here and there with what little I have of my spare time: making dresses and other girly domestic shit, trying to master drums on Rock Band, watching Columbo, and working out to Billy Blanks’ Tae Bo. None of the things on that list is a joke. I keep forgetting to show you guys these. I thought you might appreciate it.

Yeah, I made a moogle dress. Pretty nerdy, huh? It’s a cute little summer dress. Like, in a “We’re not in Kansas anymore and we need to kick Kefka’s ass” kind of way.”

I also did a video game-related podcast with my friend Justin, for my friends’ website, The Ultralife. We’re a kind of athletic nerds clique, and we all go way back since junior high school. This website is something fun we’ve come up with to keep in touch. Anyway, you can listen to the podcast here.

Oh, and if you give a crap about my personal life at all, you can vist me here (Kinda Not Safe For Work). Until next time!

Everyone needs a shirt with an iconic, revolutionary idol on it. Whether it be Che Guevara or Martha Stewart, it’s an easy way to make a statement. For this edition of “Geek Chic,” as now it’s being called care of Kotaku, I chose THE man himself, Megaman!

I found this as a t-shirt at Hot Topic or some nonsense, and they only had it in extra large, so I just bought it and fashioned it into a stylish halter top thingymajig (I don’t know what you call this kind of style). It’s a good thing too, because we’re in the middle of a really hot summer season here in California, and this is something “cute” to wear when going out into the burning sun…or staying home in my third floor apartment WHERE ALL THE HEAT HAS RISEN WITH NO CENTRAL AIR-CONDITIONING, like me!

It’s me, and I’m all shiny and shit from sweat BECAUSE IT’S FUCKING HOT.

Oh, and sorry I was really too lazy to set up the tripod for this shot, so all you get is this stupidly cropped and angled MySpace-esque type shot. You wish you were as lame as me.

As a short person, it’s hard to find cool clothes that fit me properly. Either the stuff I like are made for taller people and I have to alter them, or if they’re the right length, they’re sold at those cheapie, hip young people stores run by Koreans that make their clothes out of flimsy fabrics that are hard to manage (and are made for thin Asian girls, which is not me >.>).

Consequently, I’ve decided to start making my own clothes. I’ve found that this is a good way to get clothes that fit my style and taste, that fit me, and as an afterthought, end up saving a lot of money.

Last week, I found this really awesome Super Mario fabric, which I decided to make into a dress that I thought you guys might appreciate.

And I made a necklace to go with it!

So yeah, there you have it, the first entry to Level 99’s “Geek Fashion” category. Watch for more fabulous duds in the future. ^.~
