So…. the internets have done ’sploded with the news of the HD-DVD crack. I don’t know enough about this to comment, really, but I guess if you have an internet connection, you’re going to jail.

Hell, even this kitty is going to jail because of this code.

This brings me to lolcats (what a segue!). The thread that Race started in our forums has begun an obsession of mine. I liked those cute little kittehs wit dere squishy faces, but I had no idea how prevalent they really were. Hell, sinceUltraMagnus‘ posted article find, I’ve been obsessed by even the “kitty pidgin” (creole is a language Hydra, pidgin is a language’s idiot-savant cousin, and Spanglish is just stupid, if that makes any sense). I had taken a picture of my cat that I had posted on my MySpace (my Space? MyMySpace? OurSpace?) and thought, “Hey, I can make a lolcat out of that and rhyme while doing it!” It was then that I realized how good the cameras are that take the original photos and was shamed. My simple camera phone would not do.

And that’s how the kitties convinced me to get a better camera.

This brings me to cameras (Seguamazing!). Oh, damn! We’re out of time? I guess next time, then.

We first me Ngyaarr as he was trying out for the position of Level 99 sidekick. He was promptly murdered. Being burried several weeks later, he pulled a Carrie and was promptly murdered again. Perhaps, perchance, maybe, a double dead Ngyaarr will be my friend? The plot thickens. I promise, though continuity abounds, the next strip will be harbored safely in the realm of Geek.

I can’t post much tonight, as I have work in the morning and am already running on no sleep, but I do have this to say: Assassin’s Creed might not be exclusive to the PS3. You might have read the news as well, but I doubt you are as elated as I am. If you have had the opportunity to talk to me about the prospects of buying a PS3, you would know those prospects to be dry–perhaps slightly moist. It was down to the games, and spending 600 dollars on myself at Christmas time after already buying a Wii and a handful of “entertainments” didn’t sound too appetizing. But, oh, how I wanted to play Assassin’s Creed. This one game wasn’t enough to push me over the edge, but it still made me itch. If this news pans out, It might even be 8 months or more before I spring for a PS3. Maybe one of you can buy me one?

Edit: Interesting development in the rumors department. Also, I think those Penny Arcade guys have a bug in my home, because everytime we think to talk about something, they discuss the same thing. Take Note.

Edit Edit: Throw in your two cents.

We have a new forum category about announcements and the like. Go there now and read up. It discusses our new locked Special Features forum that we are starting soon and filling with extra content for those that are helpful… or do something for us… Hmmmm…

Plus, we added a new emoticon to our lexicon. Hehe.
Try typing <.< or >.> in your post to see the new shifty-eyes smiley.

If you haven’t already, take this chance to sign up for the forums by clicking on the FORUMS link under the banner at the top of the page. It’s quick and easy.

END ANNOUNCEMENT

Sometimes… people just can’t let go. I don’t know about you, but I think this is going somewhere. What do you think? Well, you’re going to have to wait, if it does. We’re done with Ngyaarr for a little while longer; we just wanted to get this out of the way before we moved on to bigger and better things. BIGGER is the key word there. You have no idear.

So Troll and I tried out Black today. I had been protesting this, not because I thought it’d be bad, but because I always had something better to do… like crochet… or checking each piece of clothing in my dresser to see if they still smelled okay… or penile piercing for fun and profit. I thought it would just be CRASH BANG BOOM for a bit and then lather, rinse, repeat for the next 5 or so hours. With that original idea, I’ll say this: I was underwhelmed by the actual product. It has some good ragdoll physics (and that’s saying something because I generally hate ragdoll physics), and they do this cool blur/focus effect when you are reloading your gun, but after the first 4 or so times, it becomes more of a hindrance than a neat feature. And the AI? Oh, the AI! Troll tried to throw a grenade in the middle of a camp of mercenaries and failed (because there is no way to cook the grenade or hold the button down to get extra distance[!]). The grenade went off just outside the camp – and by “just,” I mean three feet, and by “camp,” I mean four guys just kinda standing around a campfire – and the guys… just… stood there. As if nothing even happened. Even the destructible environments were nothing compared to Red Faction, which came out five years ago. The long and short of it is this: Black was Fable-ized. They just couldn’t shut up about the destruction. If they came out saying, “Hey, we got ourselves an FPS!” we might have said, “Eh, it’s alright, but blowing stuff up is pretty cool. Ooh, look how that headstone blew apart!” But, no. Troll didn’t even play it more than half an hour. This is the same guy who played the high jump in FlatOut for days. DAYS! Totally true. Now we’re playing The Super Spy for MAME and I’m more impressed by the innovation.

Seriously, this Super Spy game is awesome.

You saw it coming. Well, boy, am I glad that story arch is over. What? Over? Well, maybe. For now, at least. Go over to the forums and you’ll see a thread here where you can throw in your ideas for a Level 99 sidekick. If we had lawyers, they’d probably be telling you that you forfeit any ideas as legally your own when you post them on a public forum. Eh. Oh, well. If you post a good idea, maybe we’ll just steal it and delete your post.

So, after a good long while without being able to update my iPod Mini, a bright light may be emerging. My hard drive fried quite some time ago; my main drive is now one of the PS2 hard drives that Troll was messing with to see if he could format it for PC use (which he did, with ease)… I was there going, “Hey. That’s bigger than the 10 gig I have in there now. Gimmee.” And, since the drive was technically mine, I snatched and ran. Well, since the iPod has no upload capability (to thwart evil doers… pshaw) and will wipe every file on itself that it doesn’t find on the computer that it in linked to (pshaw), I was left with months of the same old on my portable gramophone. It seemed like such a hassle to rediscover all of the music I had lost (especially since some of it was hard to find comedy tracks), but I considered it a forced spring cleaning – my chance to get rid of all the crap on my pod. If it wasn’t worth finding again, then I didn’t really want it. Well, of course that’s bullcrap, so I went looking for a file that Race had suggested: Senuti (that’s iTunes backwards, kiddies). Senuti lets you move files back and forth from iPod to iTunes…. But it’s only available for Mac. Shit. I found another program listed here that seemed to do the same thing for PC…. But it costs money. Double Shit. Theres another program that loads directly onto your iPod that will let you interface with any computer you hook it up to (COOL! Found here)…. But my iPod is full and the only way to make room for it would be to calibrate it with my new hard drive which would wipe the music on the iPod anyway. Triple Shit. So I went back to the pay program to see if there was some way to test it for free and found out that you didn’t have to pay at all (COOL! Found here)… but now I can’t find my iPod’s USB cable. Quadruple Shit. So apparently, that bright light I was talking about was emerging from an asshole.

-Arlo

P.S.This post took me so long to write, not because of it’s length, but because I tried listening to the Metal Gear Saga DVD that comes with the reservation of Subsistence while at the same time working on this piece and failed miserably.

And the peasants rejoice! =D

Okay, so I should totally make my presence known more around on this here blog. Before you know it, people will start to think that Arlo’s the clever one…and they’d probably be right. Feh. Yeah, so what if I’m not as verbally gifted and witty as Arlo? I can curse a lot and make potty jokes! “Why, Race? Why must you punish us with your mindless gibberish?” Because I can, that’s why.

Poo comes out of your butt, teehee!

Like every good comic should, we need some kind of obligatory animal sidekick thing, so instead of arbitrarily choosing X cute thingy or ride on the coattails of yet another (gasp) penguin sidekick, we’ve upheld the spirit of competition through our Animal Sidekick Tryouts! Whee, and the plot thickens!

So unlike Arlo, I haven’t chumped out to paying $15 a month to live vicariously through low-poly 3D models in a Crafty War World, but believe me, I’ve been tempted. Part of me really wants to pick this up to be, you know, “cool” and stuff, but a larger part of me can’t justify spending that kind o’ money on a game that doesn’t wholeheartedly appeal to me in the first place. So I’ve done what any sound-of-mind “gamer” would do and have taken upon a reasonable poorman’s facsimile–I’ve picked up Guild Wars again! Amusingly, the extent of my gender-bending gameplay habits has only been limited to 50% of the time. And I’m sure you’re really interested in this next part, but I figure it’s time for some introduction!

This is Rex Avogadro, my very first character! She’s a level 17 necro/warrior, which is a dismal combination, so she’s just 100% Goth. She also has mouths on her armor.

This is my unfulfilled attempt at starting a monk character. Her name is Ms Diagnose and she’s only a level 2 monk/ranger. It would probably be really fun to be a monk, but for now, this character is warming the bench.

Last but not least, this is Peenes Envy. He’s also level 2 and is an elementalist with no secondary class (yet). I just made him because he’s pretty.

So there you have it–my Guild Wars posse! Albeit the game’s system only allows up to level 20, it is my decree that Level 99 is well-deserved of this post. =P

Anyway, enough about Guild Wars. Arlo doesn’t know this yet, but I have to announce that it is also my decree that overuse of the word “teh” in the forum will result in vicious, bloody beatings. I mean it. I will totally super-hyper-combo-finish your ass.

Whatever will happen? And wait…. Is that continuity I smell? We’re touching into new land here, what with an animal side-kick and all, but I sense this will all end badly.

Picked up Mega Man X Maverick Hunter and there is a Powered Up demo on there. Capcom doesn’t seem capable of letting this franchise go – to the point that they’ll release two (2) retro collections and now two (2) remakes of the first in both (2) of those series. And you know what? People will buy them. Always and forever. Something in them harkens back to when Normal was Hard and Hard…. well, Hard didn’t exist, but it would have been just Impossible. Now, me? I never could get ahold of the Mega Man games, which is why I’m pretty much done with this one already. I played it. I get it. I need it no more. Congrats Mega Man fans!

Other news? Bleh, I’m tired. Look at the time! I promise I’ll post more. Keep you comin’ back. Ah, who am I kidding? You come back for my good looks. Race draws me so well. Really captures the sexy.
