So yeah, it took longer than I thought it would, but 63 installments in, and we finally get to see Race out of those boring jeans and white hoodie and into something much less comfortable. All for the sake of your enjoyment, you sickos…oh, and for plot development, I guess.

I like to play games online, particularly first person shooters, but I’ve never dabbled in the competitive gaming circuit (although I’ve always wanted to), so I can’t claim to have our current strip to account for real life experiences. I just don’t have the time to practice. I can’t even crank these damn strips out on time! >.< I haven’t had much experience playing these sorts of games with other girls, either, although I’ve lurked in “grrl gamer” forums and I think the main difference between competitive gaming between boys and girls, is that instead of talking a bunch of shit, girls tend to be extremely supportive and adopt that whole “go, sister, go” attitude. That’s why those girls are mudwrestling in the background. They’re supporting each other. ^.~

At any rate, I try to get in as much gaming as I can, and for the past week or so, I’ve been playing nothing but Quake 4. If you wanna come frag with me, my Xfire name is “level99.” I need some Xfire buddies who play similar games as I do…all the people on my list play WoW. Doh.

Oh, Jesus. Why do I always start posts with fragmented, non-sensical, oft profane sentences? Well, I guess it doesn’t matter, because Race is a twelve-year-old boy. The funny thing is, people often assume she is when playing voice-enabled multiplayer games. And she just goes along with it. You also see here Race’s psuedo-namesake. I say psuedo because we have this whole convoluted backstory behind her name that I don’t think we ever intend to reveal with any officiality. Oh, Jesus. Why must I make up so many words? So, yeah. Apparently, everyone called this. I asked the Troll how many times you can fuck up a launch before the launch and he responded with:

I guess he has a point. But still. Weren’t they saying something like 2 million systems by the end of the year and half of those at launch? And now there’s only half a million? Listen. It’s important to note that I’m not just pointing my finger and laughing. There might be a bit of giggling, but honestly, this is more bad news in a string of bad news. I’d probably be feeling bad and rallying for them, if they weren’t such pricks about the whole thing in the first place.

Yes. Mac is kind of a dick. I love the new commercials even though the idea of using a Mac is fundamentally abhorrent to me. My two cents? Mac fails for me because of compatibility. That “graphically superior” thing is just utter bullshit. Wait a month and hundreds, if not thousands, of PC hardware developers will have something better. That’s part one of “compatibility…” Hardware. Your Mac needs an upgrade? You’re screwed. Done for. That $2000 piece of future is now a $2000 paperweight. I’m not saying it’s a good thing that PCs “get” to upgrade (or “have” to, rather); I just like to know I have the option to prevent my purchase from depreciating in any way I can. The other compatibility issue is Software. Well, now that you can dual-boot, that complaint is right out the window. You are so close, Apple. Just take it a step further. Allow us to upgrade if we want and I’m there. I would buy an iMac tomorrow. I understand that it’s much sleeker and prettier, but that doesn’t always work for me. Make it functional and fun as well, and it does. I may have a predispostion, but I don’t have a blood oath with PC. Just stop being… well… a dick.

There. We got it out of our systems. On to other things….

The chat section of the site is up and running, in case you missed Race’s post. God, I can’t wait until I’m doing this in my own room on my own computer. Sigh.

So the special time that occurs from the end of April through the beginning of May is upon us. I call it “January 2.” Yay, e3. Well, it’s true. Business is slow and news is slothful. That means slow.

I suppose that means this is a good time for my computer to go ape shit on me. It started with a new hard drive and each piece thereafter needed to be replaced in subsequent order. New harddrive with SATA meant a new motherboard. New motherboard came with a new processor and also meant I needed new memory. I replaced my dvd-rom with a burner a couple of months ago. As I’m putting all of this together, it was apparent that no matter how hard I pushed, my AGP video cards would not fit in a PCIE slot. So that meant a new video card. I got the video card right quick and tried everything together. Oh, but Windows install gave me a blue screen… with two difference copies (for those of you keeping track, that means this comp has received the honor of a blue screen in normal operation, no operation, in safe mode, and now before the install even starts). A good friend of mine and ex-boss got his hands on it and managed to get Windows installed and running. He even installed all of the drivers I needed, but he suggested I replace the power supply (and the case, while I was at it). For those of you still keeping track, those are the only two parts of the computer that haven’t been replaced now.

I get it home. I power it up. Windows loads. I see a green field and a blue sky. The intro music begins playing. The intro music cuts off. The screen goes black. The power cuts off. The computer refuses to power on again. Looks like I’m replacing the power supply sooner than I expected. Meh. At least then I’ll have a completely brand new computer. And maybe then January 2 will be over. Hopefully.
