On this weeks Speed Run Sunday, we have Super Mario World. Originally released on August 13, 1991 as a pack in with the Super Nintendo, Super Mario World is noted as one of the best games in the Mario series as well as one of the best games ever created. As with other titles in the Mario franchise, there are many hidden areas for you to find in order to get to the end and beat Bowser. Our runner finds these hidden areas in the game, and blazes through Super Mario World in ten minutes, and fifty nine seconds!

Since I did my Chun-Li sculpture, I’d been messing around with polymer clay more and decided to make these earrings. I’ve never made jewelry before, ever, unless you count wreaths of grass and weeds I used to make when I was a little girl. This is really my first attempt at making them, and it’s probably not an original idea by any means. I just thought it would be nice, easy little project to try this whole thing out on. Again, I haven’t consulted any jewelry-making guides or tutorials, so I couldn’t tell you the best way to do this, or if what I’m doing is standard or correct. I just sort of went to the art supply store and did what I thought would make sense. *Shrugs.* The results are satisfactory.

So yeah, Airheads are delicious. The earrings are good for wearing with casual clothes, and I’ve worn them to work on several occassions; although, I have to get in the habit of not sleeping in them, since as they’re hand-made, I worry that I don’t have the skills to have made them sturdy enough. Oh well. It’s fun, though I need to stop doing all this girly stuff on my spare time and get back to drawing comics! >.<

Anyway, this is the first purse I’ve ever made, and I think it came out pretty well. It has lining, a zippered pocket, and I even sculpted an Invincibility Star keychain out of Crayola Model Magic. Model Magic is really great stuff, so long as you’re working kind of big, since it’s so light and fairly versatile. I painted the star with regular acrylic paint, though, in the future, I am probably going to spray it with some kind of clear coating so the paint doesn’t chip or run as easily. (The paint smudged a little bit when it rained here.) Here are a couple of pictures.

I gave the purse the photographic and post-processing treatment I give all the purses at my job, hehe.

All in all, a great project. Oh, and by the way, if you’re looking for Super Mario fabric, please do not e-mail asking me where I got it. I just got really lucky on eBay, that’s all. And even then, I wasn’t able to buy near the equivalent it would take to make your son Super Mario curtains or blankets or whatever. So yeah, good luck with that because I have no idea where you would buy them otherwise.

Okay, I’m at work writing and posting this, so I’m going to end it here. I have to go back to these other really ugly purses that people are actually buying. Hot pink zebra stripes? Really?!

Yes, really. I work in Peggy Bundy’s idea of heaven. *sigh* -_-;;

I’m sure people that if this game existed, people will get it and defend their purchases with, “The gameplay is really good.”

Holy shit, we did a comic. Despite our busy schedules, I figured it was right time to get the comic back up and going again. I have no idea what the schedule is going to be like, so don’t get your hopes up or anything. =P (That’s the spirit!) But yeah, always wear your helmet, kids.

Even with all the seemingly endless lists of gift ideas, however, every year I still have trouble getting coming up with something romantic yet original for the love of my life. What do you get a nerdy, geeky, techy boy that loves video games and has an obsession for collecting roms backups? I don’t want to get him computer parts again.

Well, this year it hit me. My boy loves video games. My boy also loves cupcakes with home-made frosting. Why not combine the two?!

That’s right, folks. Those are super mushroom, 1-up mushroom, and goomba mother-effing cupcakes. Now, I’m sure I’m not the first to come up with this idea, but I’m quite proud of it, still. (You can learn how to make your own goomba cupcakes here, as well as other delicious video-game themed goodies.) I took this setup and surprised him with it at his place of employment, along with a very cheesily-decorated cubicle. I guess he got a lot of attention because of it…or maybe everyone just wanted to eat cupcakes, I don’t know. >.> Anyway, here are more pictures.

Consequently, I’ve decided to start making my own clothes. I’ve found that this is a good way to get clothes that fit my style and taste, that fit me, and as an afterthought, end up saving a lot of money.

Last week, I found this really awesome Super Mario fabric, which I decided to make into a dress that I thought you guys might appreciate.

And I made a necklace to go with it!

So yeah, there you have it, the first entry to Level 99’s “Geek Fashion” category. Watch for more fabulous duds in the future. ^.~

When they’re feeling really frisky, Mario breaks out the Mega Mushroom. Seriously. The New Super Mario Bros. is really good. If you have a DS, go do yourself a favor and get it. I’m kinda tempted to get Super Princess Peach now.

Race and I have been talking a little bit about conventions and how we can go and particpate. Generally, the idea is the Artist’s Alley, where people make requests and Race would draw the item. The problem there is I get to sit next to her doing nothing and probably playing my DS. Did I say problem?
